Sioux Center News April 18, 1935

Gerrit Harbers Vander Stoep of Hawarden, Ia., passed away Monday evening after a short illness. Mr. Vander Stoep was taken to Sioux City last week Wednesday where he entered the hospital for an appendicitis operation.

Harbers Vander Stoep was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Vander Stoep of Sioux Center. Having lived here all his life until the past several years when he accepted a position as cashier in the bank at Hawarden. He was born in Sioux Center on July 1, 1911. Mr. Vander Stoep worked in the local First National Bank for several years before he moved to Hawarden. In May 1934 he was married to Miss Pearl Olson from Alcester, So. Dak.

Besides his widow, he is survived by his parents, four sisters, Mrs. E.M. Olson of Sioux City; Sade, Seattle, Wash.; Lillian, Sioux City; Mary, Kamar, Ia.; and 4 brothers, D.H. Vander Stoep, Lynden, Wash.; James, Terre Haute, Ind.; Claude, Sioux Center and Harry of Sioux Center.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 19 at 1:30 o'clock in Hawarden and at 3:00 o'clock in the Central Reformed Church in Sioux Center. Interment will be in Sioux Center.
