Johanna Vander Stoep, 108, Orange City died Sunday, May 24, at Long Term Care Facility in the Orange City Municipal Hospital.

Services were Wednesday, May 27, at First Christian Reformed Church in Orange City, with the Rev. Timothy Ouwinga and the Rev. Ralph Pontier officiating. Burial was at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center, under the direction of Oolman Funeral Home in Oolman Funeral Home.

Johanna Vander Stoep, daughter of Johannis and Elizabeth (Verduin) Schaap, was born Aug. 10, 1889, in New Holland, SD. Her family moved to the Rock Valley area and later to the Sioux Center area. She married Gerrit Lammers in 1912, in Sioux Center. They farmed in Sioux Center. Mr. Lammers died in 1927, in Sioux County. She then moved into her parents' home in Orange City, where she helped care for them until they passed away. She also did laundry and housekeeping for others. She married Andrew Vander Stoep in 1953 in Orange City. They continued to live in Orange City. Mrs. Vander Stoep died in 1963 in Orange City. She became a resident of the Long Term Care Facility in 1993.

She was a member of First Christian Reformed Church and the church's Thy Kingdom Come Society.

Survivors include her daughter, Hermina Dragstra of Allendale, MI.; a grandson; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Theodore Dragstra; a granddaughter, Joan Dragstra; 10 brothers and sisters, Peter Schaap, Dick Schaap, Jennie Te Velde, Maude Brink, Annie Van Otterloo, Dena Ver Burg, and Johnny, Dena, Peter and Adriyana Schaap.
