John R. Van De Berg, 81, of Sioux Center died Thursday in a hospital in Sioux Center. Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the First Reformed Church. Dr. Thurman Rynbrandt officiated. Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation was Friday in the Memorial Funeral Home in Sioux Center.

Mr. Van De Berg was born March 6, 1901, in Sioux Center.

He married Ada Doornink Oct. 17, 1923, at Sioux Center, until 1952 when they retired and moved into town.

Survivors include his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Marvin (Alice) Kuyper of Inwood, one son, Elmer of Sioux Center, one brother, Ralph of Sioux Center, two sisters, Mrs. Tony (Gerdena) Van Ravenswaay and Mrs. Henry (Wilmina) Punt, both of Sioux Center, 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
