Albert John Vink, 84, Rock Valley, died Wednesday Dec. 22 at Valley Manor Nursing Home in Rock Valley.

Services were Monday Dec. 27, at First Reformed Church in Rock Valley, with the Rev. Mike Van Hammersveld officiating. Burial was at Valley View Cemetery in Rock Valley, under the direction of Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley.

Albert Vink, son of Gerrit and Anna (Te Brink) Vink, was born June 26, 1920, in Belgrade, MN. The family moved north of Hull, Iowa when he was 7 years old. He married Marie Verburg on Aug. 20 1942, near Hull. They farmed south of Rock Valley for 50 years. He also was a lineman and charter member of the Plato Mutual Telephone Company, was a mechanic for Hi-Way Chevrolet in Rock Valley for 25 years and was a school bus driver for Rock Valley School District. He also enjoyed woodworking. They retired to Rock Valley in 1990. Mrs. Vink died Jan. 31, 1999. He moved to Valley Manor Nursing Home on Sept. 24, 2002.

Survivors include three sons, Gerald and Colleen Vink of Anchorage AK., Rodney and Bonnie Vink of Lake Elmo, MN., Leroy and Florence Vink of Rock Valley; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Henry Vink of Colton, SD.; four sisters, Alice and Harry Norman of Mora, MN., Marian and Richard Verburg of Rock Valley, Anna and Bernard Scholten of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Bernice and John Reuvers of Marshall, MN.; a brother-in-law John Van Leeuwen of Hull; and sister-in-law, Wilma Vink of Hull.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie, two brothers, Delmar Vink and George Vink; a sister, Nettie Van Leeuwen; two sister-in-law, Lucretia Vink and Bernice Vink.
