An Old Settler gone.
Mrs. Elizabeth Putnam Passes to the Great Beyond.

During the dark hours, between Friday and Sturday, the death angel entered one of Hull's homes and took the spirit of Mrs. Elizabeth Putnam to the home beyond the skies, where in company of the spirit of her husband and other relatives gone before it will rest for eternity with the Lamb.

Mrs. Putnam was born in Lower Canada, Dec 10, 1848 and moved with her parents, two years later to the United States, coming to Iowa in 1858. On August 30 1865 she was untied in marriage to Mr. Henry Putnam, at Prairie du Chien WI and about 32 years ago moved to Sioux County, where she has since resided. Mr. Putnam passed to his rest some twelve years since. Her maiden name was Elizabeth Bulette.

Mrs. Putnam has suffered for some years, but not until a few months ago was her ailment considered serious.

The deceased leaves the following sons and daughters to mourn her departure; Mrs. May Gornwold of Hull, J. A. of George, Margurite A., Mrs. Addie Weir, Allie A. Mrs. Luella A. Fie and Cecella B. all of Hull and Charles B. of Salem, Oregon. She also leaves one brother Austin and one sister Mrs. Angie Donovan of Sheldon.

Mrs. Putnam was a true Christian of the Catholic faith and was buried from S. Joseph's church in this city, Rev. Father Twobig saying the last sad rites The funeral was a large one on account of the popularity of the deceased.

The index joins the friend of the bereaved family in expressing sincere sympathy in their sad hour.

An obituary in the Rock Valley Bee, September 8, 1905, gives the following additional information:
About a year ago the deceased was injured in a railway wreck at Rock Valley. From these injuries she never recovered. This obit says she was born on December 2, 1848; married Henry Putnam at Elkader, Iowa; and spells the names of several of her children differently.

(From and ancestry.com account - Her husband was Henry Putnam/Patenaude born 9 April 1832 Montreal, Quebec, Canada, married #1 Rose King 1850 and had seven children. Married #2 Elizabeth Bulette Aug 30 1865 Prairie Du Chien WI; children were Frank 1866, Mary 1867, Joseph 1870, Marguerite 18 72, Adeline May 1873, Alfred 1876, Luella 1879, Charles 1881 and Cecillia 1883. Henry died 30 May 1893 Hull IA, both buried iin St Joseph's cemetery Hull IA. Elizabeth's parents were Alexander Bulette 1812-1898 and Margrete Miner 1815-1885.)
