Died May 29, 1902

Mrs. Jemima Vargason, was born in Bucks County, Pa, Oct. 11, 1803 and was therefore in her 99th year at the time of her death. In 1821 at the age of 18, she was married to Moses Vargason. Eight children were born to them, all of whom are living except the eldest.
Six daughters and one son thus survive her. Mrs. Sophia Gee is her third daughter, with whom she has made her home since 1885. She survived her hisband by 22 years, who died in 1880. In 1842 she moved with her husband to Michigan. Since that time she has made her home in various states of the west and lastly in Iowa. In 1890 she joined the Presbyterian Church of Calliope. For many years her delight has been reading her bible, reading it constantly while her eyesight permitted, and having it read to her when she could no longer read it for herself.
Her illness was occasioned by a fall a few weeks ago, resulting in a broken hip, from the effects of which, owing to her extreme age, she never recovered, and she passed away the 29th of May.
Brief funeral services were conducted at the home by Rev. Wallace, the Presbyterian church choir assisting with appropriate music. Her son-in-law Dr. Gee, conducted the body to its last resting place in Minnesota.
