Died: 10-6-1936

Delbert Winterfeld of Swan Valley, Idaho, second youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. August Winterfeld of Rock Valley, Iowa, passed away on Oct. 6, 1936, at a local hospital at Idaho Falls, Idaho, of pneumonia. He was only 35 years old.

Delbert was well known in this vicinity, having lived here until 1935 when he left Idaho Falls and began farming there. He was born on April 3, 1901 in Plato township and grew to young manhood here farming with his parents. He leaves a host of friends and relatives, both here and in Idaho, who mourn his death.

Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian Church at Idaho Falls on Friday, Oct. 9, 1936. The Rev. Charles M. Donaldson officiated. Music was furnished by a quartet, composed of Mrs. Harry Merrill, Lois Clark, W.I. Shattuck and W. L. Brewrisk. They sang "Sometime We'll Understand", "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Abide With Me."

Many beautiful floral offerings were given by grieving friends. Among the flowers girls were Miss Ruth Hungerford, Mrs. Paul Crowder, Mrs. Leona Craft, Mrs. Robert Flenning, Mrs. Harry Kruse, Mrs. Raymond Gill, Miss Mabel Albertus, Miss Jennie Lindville, Mrs. John Calderwood, Mrs. Frank Life and Miss Elizabeth Melton.

Pallbearers were the five brothers and one brother-in-law: Paul Traughber, Fritz and Herman Winterfeld of Swan Valley, Argo Winterfeld of Idaho Falls, William and Theo of Plato Township, Sioux county, Iowa.

He leaves to mourn his early departure his aged parents Mr. and Mrs. August Winterfeld of Rock Valley, the five brothers and two sisters, Mrs. Anna Traughber of Swan Valley and Cora Kruse. One brother preceded him in death.

Delbert Winterfeld had planned on marrying Miss Loraine Gill of Idaho Falls in the near future. Plans for a new home in Swan Valley had been completed and the foundation already finished.

Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery.
