Memorial services for Bert J. Solsma, 76, were held September 2 at 1:30pm in the First Reformed Church of Sheldon. Pastors Louis Benes and Kenneth Westrate officiated. Burial was in East Lawn Cemetery under the direction of Andringa Funeral Home. Mr. Solsma died Sunday, August 30 in a Sioux City hospital.

He was born June 25, 1905 in Alton and lived in the Sheldon and Sanborn area while growing up Mr. Solsma attended school in rural Sheldon. On January 21, 1931 he was married to Agnes Hofman in rural Sanborn. They farmed in the Sheldon and Ashton areas, retiring to Sheldon 1970. For the past two years, the Solsmas have resided in the Sheldon Christian Retirement Home.

Mr. Solsma is survived by his wife, Agnes, of Sheldon, one daughter, Margaret (Mrs. Gilbert) Oldenkamp of Sanborn; one son, Ben Solsma of Bellflower, Calif.; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Dick Solsma of Sanborn; two sister, Jennie (Mrs. Hank) Kruisselbrink of Woodstock, Minn. and Mrs. Clarence Adema of Sheldon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
