Dena Wesselink, 93, of Margate; Florida, died Sunday, December 1, at Beverly Manor Nursing Home in Margate, Florida.

Services will be at 11am on Saturday, December 7, at Central Reformed Church in Sioux Center with the Rev. David Ter Beest officiating. Burial will be in the Hope Cemetery, Hull.

Mrs. Wesselink was born on May 28, 1903, at Maurice, the 11th of 14 children of Hendrik and Jannigje Vande Weerd. She moved with her family to a farm near Sioux Center in 1905. Later her family moved to the Rock Valley area. She married Henry D. Wesselink on May 28, 1924, at the home of her parents west of Rock Valley. May 28 was both her and her husbands birthday. The couple farmed at four different places in Sioux County. He died November 20, 1968. After his death she moved to Sioux Center. She moved to Margate in 1987 to make her home with her daughter and son-in-law, after having lived in Sioux County for more than 84 years.

During the past two years, she experienced confusion and frailty and needed much care. She broke her leg on October 26 and after surgery was hospitalized one week and then transferred to the Beverly Manor Nursing Home in Margate for therapy.

Mrs. Wesselink had been a member of several churches in Sioux County at different times in her life when she lived in different communities. She was active in the Women's Missionary Society, teaching Sunday school and directing children's choirs in earlier years. After she was widowed and moved to Sioux Center, she became a member of Central Reformed Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Eleanor J. Meyer and her husband, the Rev. Harold J. Meyer of Margate; one granddaughter; one grandson; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; eight brothers and four sisters, Henry J., Gert Sneller, Harman, Jennie Kooiker, Minnie Franken, Jacob, Evert, Bertha Wissink, Hien, Gysbert and John, plus Garrit who died in infancy.
