Funeral services are being held Thursday, January 17, in the First Reformed Church of Sheldon for Gerrit Wiersma. Rev. A Van Dyke is officiating at the 2 o'clock service.

Mr. Gerrit Wiersma, 63, died at his home in Sheldon on Monday morning following a lingering illness of several years. He was dismissed from the Veteran's Hospital in Sioux Falls a few weeks ago, but gradually failed. He was a World War I veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Jennie, and four married children. Also surviving him are three sisters and five brothers. The five brothers, all living in the Orange City area, are Peter, George, Dewey, Sam and Pier Wiersma. One sister, Mrs. Johanna Hollander, resides in Hull. One sister, Mrs. Anna Meyer, resides in New Jersey; and one sister, Mrs. Ellen Wobbema, resides in California.
