John H. Wolf, 66, rural Hospers, died Saturday, March 4, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City.

Services were Tuesday March 7, , at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Sheldon, with Father Robert Schimmer officiating. His body was donated to medical science. Arrangements were under the direction of Andringa Funeral Home Sheldon Funeral Service.

John Wolf, son of Howard S. and Marguerite (Donohue) Wolf, was born Sept. 21, 1939, in Hospers. He lived his youth in rural Hospers, where he attended a country school through the eighth grade. He graduated Sheldon High School in 1957. He worked in construction until he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served overseas in Germany for two years, seven months and 11 days and attained the rank of E-6. He was honorably discharged. He married Janet G. Rexroat of Sioux City on April 25, 1975, in South Sioux City, NE. They lived in Sioux City, where he was a salesman. They moved in 1980 to rural Hospers, where he farmed and designed and manufactured farm equipment. He enjoyed mechanical challenges and making something work better and smoother. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, The History Channel and military movies, especially about World War II. His family and friends were his life. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Sheldon.

Survivors include his wife, Janet Wolf of Hospers; three children, Heather and Tony Nelson of Jackson, NE., Sean and Stephanie Wolf of Sheldon, and Nicholas Wolf of Hospers; and a sister, Marilynn and Charles Rexroat of Sycamore, Ill.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Laura.
