Funeral services were held at the Bethel Reformed Church, Sheldon on Monday Sept. 4 for Mrs. Edward Schemper, 53, Worthington, Minn., (formerly of Sheldon, Iowa) who died at the Sheldon Hospital on Friday, September 1.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. William B. Miller and burial was made at East Lawn Cemetery under the direction of Vander Ploeg's Funeral Home.

The former Mabel Vander Weerd, daughter of Henry and Alice (Benthuis) Vander Weerd, was born on April 21, 1919 in Rock Valley. She married Edward Schemper on November 2, 1936 in Rock Valley.

Survivors include the widower; one daughter, Mrs. Richard (Coletta) Goddard of Enid, Okla; one son, Ronald James of Worthington; her mother, Mrs. Ben Vonk Sr. of Sioux Center; two sisters, Mrs. Roy (Janet) Bartman of Bellflower, Calif., Mrs. Mike (Lorraine) Leffredo of La Puente, Calif.; three brothers, Clarence of Alta, Chester of Rock Valley and Franklin of Anaheim, Calif.; five grandchildren; step-father, Ben Vonk, Sr. of Sioux Center and 11 step brothers and sisters.
