Peter Raak, 82, of Orange City died Monday, September 3 at the Orange City Municipal Hospital following a long illness.

Funeral services were at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, at the First Reformed Church. The Rev. Cecil Martens and the Rev. Frank Snuttjer officiated. Burial was in West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City. Visitation was from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4 at the Van Etten-Oolman Funeral Home.

Mr. Raak was born Feb. 16, 1902, near Orange City. He married Lola De Kock on Jan. 30, 1929, in Maurice. The couple farmed near Orange City until moving into the city in January 1963.
Mr. Raak became a resident of the Heritage House Nursing Home in Orange City in July 1982. Mr. Raak spent his life in the farming and cattle feeding businesses. He was a member of the First Reformed Church and served on the board of directors of the Farmer's Mutual Elevator Association of Orange City for 12 years.

Survivors include his wife; a brother, Arie of Orange City, and a sister, Mrs. James (Gertrude) Zevenbergen of Alton.
