Cornelius Moerman, 86, of Sioux Center died Monday, July 19, at the Sioux Center Community Hospital.

Funeral services were Thursday at 10am at Faith Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center with the Rev. Bernie Haan officiating. Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Moerman was born to Peter and Tryntje (Schelling) Moerman on June 16, 1913, in Sioux Center. He married Marie Peters on August 30, 1940. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II stationed in Germany. Except for three years in Michigan, the couple have always made their home in Sioux Center. He built between 15 and 20 houses in Sioux Center, besides doing many remodeling jobs.

He attended First Christian Reformed Church and then became a charter member of Faith Christian Reformed Christian Reformed Church. He enjoyed saw sharpening and woodworking in his shop where he spent many hours with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Karen of Orange City, and Jolene and Andrew Visser of Rock Valley; two sons, Preston and Diane and Curtis and LeeAnn of Sioux Center; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four sisters, Henrietta Olsen and Magdalena Fedders of Sioux Center, Nell Rodlbaugh and Dena and Elmer Cuperus of Jenison, Michigan; two brothers, Peter and Catherine of Tucson, Arizona, and Paul and Darlene of Houston, Texas; two sisters-in-law, Shirley and Alice of Sioux Center.

He was preceded in death by five brothers, John, Adrian, William, Arie and Leonard (in infancy); one sister, Katherine (in infancy); and three brothers-in-law.
