Died: September 27, 1989

Richard Zomermaand, 76, of Orange City and formerly of Sioux Center, died Wednesday, September 27, in a hospital in Orange City.

Services were at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, September 30, at Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center with the Rev. Edward Visser officiating. Burial was in Memory Garden Cemetery.

Zomermaand was born November 4, 1912, in the Rock Valley area where he lived his youth and attended country school. He had been a resident of Hope Haven Training Center in Orange City the last 22 years.

He was a member of Bethel Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Center.

Survivors include three brothers, Henry of Sioux Center, Gerrit of Struble and John of Holland, Michigan; eight sisters, Jennie Droog of Jenison , Michigan, Henrietta Niemeyer of Inwood, Ann Vander Wege of Holland, Michigan, Nellie Mesman of Ripon, California, Alice Top of Cerritos, California, Rolena Wissink of Ankeny, Alberta Van Hofwegen of Hanford, California, and Hattie Boer of Visalia, California.
A memorial has been established in his name with Hope Haven Training Center in Orange City.
