Funeral services were held at the Bethel Christian Reformed Church here at 1:30 P.M. Monday for Mrs. Egbert Zomermaand, Sr., 70, longtime resident of Sioux Center, who died at the Sioux Center Community Hospital Thursday morning.

Services were conducted by the Rev. Richard Venema, with the assistance of the Rev. C. Huissen. Burial was made in the Sioux Center Community Cemetery under the direction of Vander Ploeg Funeral Home of Sioux Center. A brief service was conducted at the family home at 304 South Main Avenue immediately preceding the service at the church.

Mrs. Zomermaand, nee Peteronela Van Voorst, was born September 11, 1886, in The Netherlands, where she attended school and grew to young womanhood. In 1903, at the age of 17, she immigrated to the United States. Four years later, on August 28, 1907, she was married to Egbert Zomermaand. The family had resided in this community for many years.

Survivors besides her husband include five sons, Egbert, Jr., Richard, Henry, Garrit John and John; 10 daughters, Hermina, Mrs. Maas Van Beek; Lucy, Mrs. Case Van De Wege; Jennie, Mrs. Herbert Koel; Henrietta, Mrs. Opeke Niemeyer; Annie; Nellie; Alice; Rolena, Mrs. William Wissink; Albertha, Mrs. Case Van Hofwegen; Hattie, Mrs. John Boeve; 49 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard; and two sisters, Henrietta Meyer and Hermina Ten Napel.

Three brothers, Gerrit, Bert and Henry Van Voorst, preceded her in death.
Pallbearers were Egbert Zomermaand, Gerrit Zomermaand, Herb Koel and Maas Van Beek.
