Lloyd Dale Woudstra, 75, Sheldon, Formerly of Hospers, died Saturday, November 11, at Orange City Area Health System.

Services were held Tuesday, November 14, at First Christian Reformed Church in Hospers, with the Rev. Duane Tinklenberg officiating. Burial was at Hospers Cemetery, under the direction of Oolman Funeral Home in Hospers.

Lloyd Woudstra, son of Ike and Willemina (Reinsma) Woudstra, was born June 14, 1931, near Hospers. He was raised in Hospers, where he attended the Christian school. He graduated from Western Christian High School in Hull. He married Gertrude Marlene Ennema on June 19, 1951, in Hospers. They made their home in Hospers., where he was involved in the meat-packing business. They moved to Sheldon in 1978. He was in the cattle-feeding business at the Sioux Center Cooperative Feedlot until his death. He couragely fought his battle with cancer to the end.

He was a lifetime faithful member of First Christian Reformed Church in Hospers. He had been a member of the board of directors of Hospers Christian School. His major goals in life were to raise a Christian family and to be a loving and caring husband and father. He felt blessed to have his family and he enjoyed spending time with them, especially his grandchildren. He was known for his sense of humor by all who knew him. The three most important things in his life were his faith in God, his family and cattle feeding.

Survivors include his wife, Gertrude “Trudy” Marlene Woudstra of Sheldon; six children, Linda and Roger Tiedeman of Hull, Ila Johnson of Sheldon, Sharon and Hank Coulander of Sheldon, Wayne “Butch” Woudstra of LeMars, Shirley and Merlin Ryks of Sioux Center, and Bonnie and Glen Bonnema of Ireton; 16 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a step-great-grandchild; a sister, Gwen and Bernie Bousema of Sheldon; and a brother, Irv and Marlene Woudstra of Hospers.

Memorials may be directed to Orange City Area Home Health and Hospice.
