Mrs. Peter De Jager of Maurice died at the Sacred Heart hospital at LeMars, Iowa on Saturday, June 16, 1945 at the age of 68 years. She had suffered a stroke on Monday after which she was taken to the hospital.

Left to mourn her departure are her husband and the following children Harry De Jager of Maurice, Albert of Maurice, Mrs. Sadie Hook of Sioux City, Edward of LeMars, Andrew of Rock Valley, William of Norwalk, Calif., Martin of Orange City, Raymond of Ireton, Mrs. Harriet Spenkelink of Bronson, Ia., and Elmer in the service stationed in Maryland. Also 32 grandchildren, one of whom Norman Dale De Jager died in the Phillipine Islands on April 14, 1945. Also three great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Abel Popma of Sioux Center and one brother Tom Swarts of Maurice.

She was preceded in death by three children, Albert and Esther who both died in infancy and Mrs. Grace Wiebersch of LeMars who died on Nov. 18, 1935.

Mrs. De Jager was born in the Netherlands on August 22, 1876. In Nov. 1894 she was united in marriage to Mr. Peter De Jager. They made their home in Ireton for 21 years and the past three years in Maurice. Two of her sons, Harry and Albert served in the first world war and three of her grandsons are now in the service. Donald De Jager, Everett Hook and Robert Hook.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon, June 19, 1945, at one o'clock at the home and at 1:30 at the First Reformed Church at Maurice with the Rev. J.A. Roggen officiating. Burial took place at Pleasant Hill cemetery, Ireton, Ia., and acting pall bearers were Luke Warntjes, B. Warntjes, Harold De Jager, Frank Popma, Delbert Popma, and Lloyd Popma. Funeral arrangements were under direction of Arthur Vander Ploeg of Sioux Center.
