Pierce De Jager, 80, of Orange City died unexpectedly Saturday at the Orange City Municipal Hospital.

Services were held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the First Reformed Church. Rev. Cecil Martens and Rev. Frank Snuttjer officiated. Burial was in West Lawn Cemetery under the direction of the Van Gelder Funeral Home, Orange City.

Mr. De Jager was born Nov. 7, 1905 at Orange City, the son of Edward and Minnie (Jansma) De Jager. He married Edna Schreur Jan. 1, 1930, at Orange City. The couple farmed near Orange City for 42 years, retiring in 1971.

Mr. De Jager was a member of the First Reformed Church.

Survivors include his wife, Edna; two sons, Don of Le Mars and Harold of Orange City; four grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Grace Muyskens and Mrs. Vernon (Mildred) Schoep, both of Orange City and Mrs. Ivan (Lois) Stienstra of Spencer.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
