Sioux Center News Jan. 30, 1936

Born Februrary 26, 1876
Died January 25, 1936

Mrs. J. P. Wierda quietly passed to her reward at her home in Hospers at 11:15 o'clock Saturday morning January 25, after a lingering illness, at the age of 59 years and 11 months. Final rites were held Tues. afternoon at the First Reformed Church of Hospers. Rev. M. Stegeman, assisted by Rev. G. Douwstra, officiated.

Minnie Vander Kamp, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Vander Kamp was born at Pella, Iowa. Feb. 26, 1876. As a little girl she came to Sioux County with her parents, long since dead, and lived in Alton. Here she receivd her education. On August 17, 1984, she was married to Jacob P. Wierda, at Hospers, where they made their first home. In 1902 they came to live in Sioux Center, Mr. Wierda being employed by the N. Balkema Company. Later in 1910, Mr. Wierda entered business in Hospers, where they lived since.

Mrs. Wierda leaves to mourn, her husband; two daughters, Mrs. E.(Tillie)Sipma, and Mrs. A. G. (Sadie) Jansma, Sioux Center; two sons, James, Hospers; and Raymond, Sioux Center; three grandchildren, Clayton Jansma, Sioux Center; and Thelma and Shirley Sipma, Hospers; two brothers, four sisters, and a host of other relatives and friends.
