Sioux Center News April 23,1970

Funeral services were held at Central Reformed Church here at 10:30 a.m. lifelong resident of Sioux Center community, who died suddenly and unexpectedly at her home here Saturday afternoon. Death was attributed to heart failure.

She had been cleaning house during the early afternoon and was found about 2:30 p.m. in her living room chair where she apparently passed on a short time before.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Albert Ten Clay and burial was made in the Sioux Center Cemetery beside her husband who had preceded her in death April 29, 1965.

Mrs. Wierda, the former Rena Faber, was born in Sioux Center, June 22, 1893. She attended local schools and grew to womanhood here, and was married to Martin Wierda February 26, 1924.

Survivors include six sons, Lewis of Maurice, George of Sioux City,Thomas of Orange City, Reynold and Marvin of Sioux Center, Bernard of Chicago; five daughters, Mrs. Henry (Delia) Franken, Mrs. John (Martha) G. A. Van Roekel, both of Sioux Center; Mrs. William (Henrietta) Parsonson of Paramount, Calif., Mrs. Peter (Jane Eva) Duits of Rock Valley, Mrs. Clarence (Myrtle) Kiel of Orange City; a sister, Mrs. Dick W.A. Doornink of Sioux Center; and 34 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
