Herman M. De Haan, 87, of Orange City died Thursday, July 7, in a hospital in Orange City.

Services were at 10am Monday, July 11, at First Reformed Church in Orange City with the Rev. Dr. Cecil Martens and the rev. Marlin Vander Wilt officiating. Burial was in West Lawn Cemetery.

De Haan was born December 6, 1900 in Orange City. He married Kathryn Vander Wilt December 25, 1924, at Middleburg. The couple farmed in the Orange City area for many years. He was also employed by Farmers Co-op Elevator and was a bus driver for the Orange City Municipal Hospital. He also represented the Green Monument Company. In June 1984, the couple became residents of Pioneer Memorial Home in Orange City. She died October 17, 1986, at Orange City.

He was a member of the First Reformed Church.

Survivors include three sons, Delbert of Orange City, Rodney of Winter Haven, Florida, and Adrian of Plano, Texas; a sister, Ella Balkema of Orange City; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
