Joy L. Yates, 60, of Davis, California, died June 8, at Sutter Davis Hospital after a lengthy illness.

Funeral services were held Friday, June 11, at the Davis Funeral Chapel. Burial was at the Davis Cemetery.

A Woodland native, Yates was a 60 year resident of Davis. She attended elementary and high school in Davis as well as UC Davis. She was an active member of the National Ski Patrol--Sierra Ski Patrol for many years.

She enjoyed an active outdoor life with such activities as skiing, fishing and gardening. She was very supportive of those she knew, often taking the time to acknowledge special events in their lives.

Survivors include her husband, Wesley Yates (formerly of Sioux Center) of 633 Amherst Drive, Davis, California 95616; two daughters, Susan Gilmore of San Gabriel and Nancy Burton of Davis; one brother, Winston Williams of San Pedro; two stepsisters, Alice Jansen of Solin, Kansas, and June Feather of Crest City; a granddaughter; a nephew; and a niece.
