Dr. Loren K. Yates, 53, Omaha, died in a hospital there last Friday after a brief illness. He had had heart by-pass surgery in recent years and died after a short stay in the hospital. Funeral services were held Monday in the Westside Baptist Church with burial in Lubbuck, Texas. He was a native of Oklahoma.

Dr. Yates came to Rock Valley in about 1965, from Hawarden and practiced medicine there for about ten years. He was until his death a professor in the Creighton University College of Medicine in Omaha.

Survivors include his wife, Polly, sons and daughters, Robin, Randy, David, and Dan and 4 grandchildren.
