Funeral services for Henry Ykema, 74, of Rock Valley, former longtime Hawarden farmer who died at his home Friday evening after a long illness, were held at 1:30 Tuesday at the First Reformed Church in Rock Valley. Rev. John Byker officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery at Hawarden.

Mr. Ykema was born in The Netherlands November 12, 1888, and came to the United States in 1909. He married Jennie Hockstra and they farmed here 25 years before moving to Rock Valley ten years ago.

He is preceded in death by a son, Richard, who was killed in action during World War II.

Survivors include the widow; five sons; August of Coppersville, Michigan; Tony of Oklahoma City, Oklahama; Lawrence of Hudson and Melvin and Norman of Luverne, Minnesota; three daughters, Mrs. John Feenstra of Allendale, Michigan; Mrs. Paul Wallinga of Grand Haven, Michigan, and Mrs. Henry Van Maanen of Rock Valley; a brother, Richard, of Madelia, Minnesota; a sister, Mrs. Pearl Vander Stoel of Hull, and 32 grandchildren
