Jennie Tkema, 97, of Rock Valley died Tuesday, December 20, in Valley Manor Nursing Home in Rock Valley.

Services were at 10:30 A.M. Friday, December 23, at First Christian Reformed Church in Rock Valley with the Rev. C. Eric Fennema officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery at Hawarden.

Jennie Hoekstra was born August 8, 1891, in Orange City. She married Henry Ykema February 16, 1915, in Rock Valley. The couple farmed near Hawarden until 1953 when they retired and moved into Rock Valley. He died October 25, 1963. She moved into Valley Manor in 1984.

She was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church and Martha Circle of the church.

Survivors include five sons; August of Allendale, Michigan, Tony of Tempe, Arizona, Lawrence of Wentworth, South Dakota, and Melvin and Norman, both of Luverne, Minnesota; three daughters, Joyce Feenstra of Allendale, Michigan, Madelyn Wallinga of Grand Haven, Michigan, and Anita Van Maanen of Rock Valley; 33 grandchildren and 58 great-grandchildren.
