Died: April 6, 1990Peter Zwagerman, age 77, of Orange City, died Friday, April 6 at Marian Health Center in Sioux City.
Peter Earl was born February 18, 1913 at Hospers, the son of Edward Earl Zwagerman and Carrie Top Zwagerman. He was raised in the Hospers area.
On December 19, 1934 he married Angeline Pearl Vander Berg at Sioux Center. They made their home in Hospers where he was a trucker. In 1949 they moved to the Zwagerman family farm near Hospers. In 1963 they moved to Orange City where he was employed by Silent Sioux, which later became Metals Engineering. In 1972 they retired to Phoenix, Arizona, and in 1984 they returned to Orange City.
He was a member of the First Reformed Church of Orange City. In earlier years he was an organist and choir director at the Hospers Christian Reformed Church.
Survivors include his wife; six children, Earl of Phoenix, Carol Van Velzen of Sioux Center, Glen of Phoenix, Larry of Ames, Dennis of Phoenix, and Patricia of Oxnard, California; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandson; and two sisters, Winifred Langstraat of Orange City and Bertha Brink of Hospers.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 10 at the First Reformed Church of Orange City with the Rev. Steven Vander Molen officiating. Interment followed at the Hospers Cemetery under the direction of the Van Etten-Oolman-Van Gelder Funeral Home of Orange City.
