From the Alton Democrat of July 15, 1905

Tuesday evening at ten o'clock at his home west of town occurred the death of H. J. Ter Troete (Te Stroete) of heart trouble.

He was born in Holland eighty one years ago and moved to Sioux County in 1896 to the place where he died. The funeral was held at Newkirk Thursday afternoon and the remains were interred in the cemetery at that place.

He is survived by eight children. They are Mrs. Richard Koolbeek of Alton, Mrs. H. Roodink of Highan WI, L. Kruene of Leota MN, John Kreune of Nevara MN, H. Kreune of Cedar Grove WI and Mrs. A. Nieuwenhuis and Mrs. A. Roetman of this place.

Children: Henrietta 1866 Mrs. Henry Rauwerdink, Cornelia 1868-1906 Mrs. Richard Koolbeck, Gerrit 1872-1912 wife Ella Nieuwenhuis, and Anna Elizabeth Mrs. Albert Nieuwenhuis 1875-1969

There were four step children from his wife's previous marriage. Jan Kreunen, Lawrence Kruenen, Hendrik Kruenen, and Jane Krunen.)
