Died: November 22, 1992Loretta Wyffels, 80, of rural Rock Valley, died Sunday, November 22, at her home. Services were Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with the Rev. Donald Smith and the Rev. Robert Wyffels officiating. Burial was in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Rock Valley.
Wyffels was born July 9, 1912, near Rock Valley, the daughter of Philip and Julianna (Minnaert) Wyffels. She was graduated from Rock Valley High School in 1930 and received a bachelor of science degree from Morningside College in Sioux City in 1953. She took advanced studies at the University of Colorado, University of Iowa and the University of South Dakota. She taught in rural schools in Lyon and Sioux Counties before teaching in Sioux City at the Smith School for 13 years and Bryant School for 17 years. She retired to the family farm in rural Rock Valley in 1985.
She was a member of the Sioux City Teachers Association and St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Rock Valley.
Survivors include two sisters, Irene Ranschau of Sioux Center and Mildred and Charles Walcott of Sioux City; and nieces and nephews.
