Died: December 12, 1980Funeral services for Jake Wulfsen, 84, of George, were held December 15, at the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in George. Pastor Frank Elliott officiated. Burial was in Evergreen Lawn Cemetery, under the direction of Vogelaar-Bolin Funeral Home. Mr. Wulfsen died December 12, at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley.
He was born November 27, 1896 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. He grew up in The Netherlands, was educated there, and served in that country’s military for four years. At the age of 22, he immigrated to the United States, settling in the Boyden area. He worked as a farmhand for four years. On March 9, 1923, he was married to Gertie Dokter. After their marriage, they farmed east of Rock Rapids, moving to a farm south of George in 1946. The Wulfsens retired and moved into George in 1958. His wife died in August of 1980.
Survivors include two sons, Arthur of George , and John of Wyoming, Michigan; one daughter, Bernice (Mrs. Elmer) Grooms of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; 11 grandchildren ; and one brother, Henry of The Netherlands.
He was preceded in death by his wife, a brother, John, and three sisters, Rekay, Henrietta and Jennie.
