Elizabeth Bouma, 87, of Rock Valley died Thursday, July 12, 2001, at Valley Manor Nursing Home.

Services will be 10:30am Tuesday at First Christian Church of Lebanon, Iowa with the Rev. Loren Van Woudenberg officiating. Burial will be in Lebanon Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday with family present 7 to 8:30pm at Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley.

Mrs. Bouma was born May 12, 1914, in Hudson, S.D. the daughter of Gerrit and Anita (De Bie) Coulander. She attended country school near Rock Valley. She moved to Chicago where she ran a house cleaning business. Then she moved to Artesia, Calif. She married Clarence Bouma on Sept. 5, 1941, in Artesia. She did volunteer work while in California. Mr. Bouma died Sept. 2, 1989. She returned to Rock Valley where she continued to do volunteer work at Valley Manor.

Survivors include a brother and his wife, Cornelius and Jeneva Coulander of Ireton, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Christine Coulander of Visalia, Calif., and Winifred Coulander of Hospers, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by three brothers, Gary, Henry and Peter Coulander, and a sister, Dena Dirksen.
