Funeral services were held at Peace Lutheran Church 7 miles northwest of Sioux Center at 1:30 p.m. September 9 for August Schlumbohm, 77, of rural Hawarden, who died at the Hawarden Hospital Sept. 6.

Services were conducted by the Rev. Eugne Soland and burial was made in Grace Hill cemetery at Hawarden.

Mr. Schlumbohm was born March 24, 1893, in Eagle Township near Hawarden. He married Matilda Winterfeld January 20, 1915, near Sioux Center. He farmed in Eagle Township for 35 years, and moved to a farm near Hawarden in 1950. Fourteen years later, in 1964, he retired and moved into Sioux Center.

His wife preceded him in death, February 12, 1969.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs Clarence (Loraine) Schmidt of Ireton; a son, Bernard, of Hawarden; two brothers; Herman of Rock Valley and Frank of Hawarden; and two sisters, Mrs. Ed Degen and Mrs. Dave Johnson.
