Hawarden Independent March 10, 1930

Francis M. Trainor, a former resident of this city, was burned to death in an accident in Chicago last Thursday. Word of the tragedy came in a message to Mrs. Trainor's sister, Mrs. J.B. Schiefen, which was received early last Friday morning. The message gave no particulars of the accident and no further information has yet been received by Mrs. Schiefen.

Funeral services were held at 10 o'clock Saturday morning at St. Mel's Catholic Church in Chicago and interment was made in Mt. Carmel cemetery there.

Mr. Trainor was born and grew to young manhood in Pennsylvania, He was about 45 years of age. He served in the army during the World War. While stationed at Camp Wheeler, near Macon, Ga., he formed the acquaintance of Miss Elizabeth Vogel of Hawarden, who was at that time enrolled in the Army School of Nursing, and they were married there on Feb. 18, 1919. Following his discharge from the army they went to Coatesville, Pa., where they resided for a year or two and then came to Hawarden to make their home. They resided in this city for about four years but in 1925 moved to Chicago where they have since made their home.

Besides his wife he is survived by three children, Betty, aged 18, Francis Jr., aged 16, and Margaret, aged 13. His aged mother still lives in Pennsylvania and he is also survived by three brothers, Jack of Oakland, Calif., and Joe and James of Coatesville, Pa. His brothers in Pennsylvania came to Chicago to attend the funeral and Francis Jr. accompanied them back to Pennsylvania and will make his home with them for the present, at least.

During most of his residence in Hawarden Mr. Trainor was employed in the North Western Railway yards here. He was known as a steady and dependable workman and was highly esteemed by friends and acquaintances. The sincere sympathy of a host of old friends here goes out of the members of his family who are left to mourn his tragic death.
