Funeral services for Mrs. John Treiber, 69, a lifetime resident of Sioux county, and of the city of Hawarden over 30 years, were held Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran church with Rev. O.F. Pittack officiating. Internment with the Barnard Funeral home in charge.

Anna Sophia, the oldest daughter of ten children born to Fred Schlumbohm and wife, Mary, nee Jahde, was born on February 15, 1889, and spent her childhood and youth, in the parental home in Eagle township northeast of Hawarden.

On February 16, 1910, she was married to John Treiber in the parental home of the bride, Rev. E.H. Gillman performing the ceremony. During the next 17 years she and her husband resided on a farm two miles east of Hawarden and she became a member of the local congregation. SInce 1927 Mrs. Treiber had made her home in Hawarden.

Throughout her membership in the local congregation she was engaged in the various activities of the congregation and its organizations, the Ladies Aid and Dorcas societies and the Women's Missionary League. For many years she also served as a member of the choir and as superintendent of the Cradle Roll department of the Sunday School.

About 10 years ago Mrs. Treiber submitted to a major operation which apparently restored her health. Several years ago, however, she became a victim of a lingering illness. Nevertheless, she remained quite active in the affairs of her home and her church until last Thursday when she was taken to the local hospital where she died Saturday morning.

She was preceded in death by one son, at birth, her parents and four brothers, William, Fred, Adolph and Peter Schlumbohm.

Surviving her departure are her husband, John; three brothers, Herman of Inwood and August and Frank of Hawarden; two sisters, Mrs. Hilda Degen and Mrs. Hattie Johnson, also of Hawarden.
