Inez Treiber, 74, of Hawarden, died Thursday,. August 31, at Morningside Manor Nursing Home in Alcester, South Dakota. Services were at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawarden with the Rev. Loren Vogler officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery in Hawarden.

Born Inez Johnson on October 18, 1920, in Hawarden, to Dave and Hattie (Schlumbohm) Johnson, she was baptized on November 18, 1920, at her parents' home by the Rev. Gillman. She was confirmed on March 25, 1934, at Peace Lutheran Church in rural Sioux Center, and was graduated from Rock Valley High School on May 20, 1938. She was married to Edward Treiber on January 1, 1939, at Peace Lutheran Church by the Rev. Hugo Beyer. The couple farmed southwest of Rock Valley until 1947. They then farmed northeast of Alcester, until moving to Hawarden in 1966. Her husband died on April 24, 1985.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Ladies's aid, and was a Sunday School teacher. She also belonged to the Lamplighters, the Mutual Improvement Club and the Hawarden Hospital Auxiliary.

Survivors include a son, Dennis and his wife, Mary, of Hudson, South Dakota; a daughter, Glenda, and her husband, Dennis Stene, of Sioux Falls; a special friend, Bert; six grandchildren, Kristen, Kathryn, Carl, Craig, Amy and Angela; and three great-grandchildren.
