Military funeral services for John F. Witte of Hull were held at 2:00 o'clock Friday February 9, 1962, at Kraai Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jack Matheis officiating. Legion members, Bert Bonestroo, Ralph E. Bos, Casey Heymen, Henry Huibregtse, Neal Moss, and Reyer Van Aken were pallbearers. Burial was at Hope Cemetery.

Mr. Witte died Tuesday evening, February 6, 1962, as a result of an automoblie accident at Sheldon, Iowa. He had reached the age of 74 years, 7 months, and 12 days.

John F. Witte, son of John Witte and Marie Wills, was born June 24, 1877, at Hopkins, Minn. From 1905 to 1908 he served with the Calvary in Texas, and served again during World War I in France.

On June 23, 1920 he was married to Bertha Bockaus, and to them one daughter and two sons were born. They made their home in Perkins and painting was his occupation until his retirement about two years ago.

Surviving are the widow, two sons, Raymond of Rock Valley and Fred at home, and three grandchildren. His parents, a sister, and a daughter, Marie preceded him in death.
