Died December 19,1937

Jacob Wintermantel was born Oct. 12, 1860 near Black Hawk Wis. and Died December 19,1937 at Hull, Iowa at the age of 77 years, 2 months and 7 days. He was the oldest of a family of 9 children. Three of whom passed on before.

From country life he went to town, attending school and soon after taking up general merchandise work at Baraboo, Wis., at which place he was united in marriage to Miss Amelia Buttke of Richland Center, Wis. Two sons were born to this union, the oldest passing away in infancy. In 1888 Mr. and Mrs. Wintermantel left for the west, finally settling at Hull, Ia., where Mr. Wintermantel soon took up the general store work again, which line of duty he followed here for nearly 35 years. About 15 years ago it was necessary for him to quit active work on account of his health which failed him fast the past year. Mrs. Wintermantel passed away some 8 years ago. The surviving relatives are, one son, Emmett and family of Hull, Iowa; two brothers and three sisters Mrs. Salma of Hudson, Mr. George Wintermantel of Reedsburg Wis., Mrs. Sarah Sprecher and Mr. John Wintermantel of Prairie De Sae, Wis., and Mrs Rose Sprecher of Black Hawk, Wis.
