Sioux Center News December 13, 1962

Funeral services were held at the First Reformed Church of Orange City, Monday afternoon for Stephen Top, 70, who passed away in the Orange City Municipal Hospital early Thursday morning. Mr. Top was hospitalized in the Sioux Falls Veteran's hospital for two weeks and then transferred to Orange city.

Born in 1892 at Sioux Center, Mr. Top spent most of his life in this vicinity. He married Grace Van Wettering on March 24, 1920. They were the parents of nine children, four of whom passed away in infancy. One son, Lambert Leo died at the age of four years.

Surviving are two sons; Gerrit of Artesia Calif., and Leonard of Holland Mich; two daughters, Lorraine (Mrs. Martin Vande Brake)of Temple City, Calif., and Alda Mae (Mrs. Bernard De Bondt) of Steen, Minn., 14 grandchildren, six sisters living in California, Texas and Minnesota. A brother, Bert Top resides in Orange City.

Rev. Raymond Van Heukelom officiated at the funeral services. Burial was made at Sioux Center with Van Etten Funeral Service in charge.
