William Zalme, 82, father of Fred Zalme of Ireton, died Sunday night at his home in Alton after suffereing from a stroke some weeks ago.

Funeral services wer held on Wednesday at the First Reformed Church in Alton and burial was at Alton.

Mr. Zalme was born January 1, 1881, in The Netherlands and came to the United States when he was 17.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. George (Louise) Lyons of San Luis Obispo, Calif., and Mrs. Nick (Anna) Jilderda of Sheldon; seven sons, Andrew of Escondido, Calif., Charles of Baltimore, Md. Gerrit of Spokane, Wash., Marinus of Chicago, Fred of Ireton, John and William Jr. at home, and 15 grandchildren. He was perceded in death by a daughter, Gertrude and his wife, Nov. 28, 1962.
