Gerrit John Te Slaa, 90, Hull died Thursday, April 25, at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls. Services were Monday at First Reformed Church in Hull with the Rev. Harold Lenters of Officiating. Burial was at Hope Cemetery in Hull.

Te Slaa was born on August 26, 1905, in Hull, the son of John G. and Hattie (De Vries) Te Slaa. He grew up and lived on the same farm south of Hull most of his life. He married Etta De Vries on February 12, 1931, in Orange City. They retired to Hull in 1975. She died on December 10, 1992, in Hull.

Te Slaa was a member of First Reformed Church, where he participated in Men's Brotherhood and attended the adult Sunday School class.

Survivors include two sons, Alfred of Rock Rapids and Kenneth of Cedar Falls; three daughters, Harriet Morris of Castaic, California, and Thelma Ten Haken and Evelyn Bakker, both of Hull; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sadie Wolfswinkel of Rock Valley and Gertrude Zoet of Hull; and a brother Gerben, of Hull.

He was also preceded in death by a son, John Kenneth, a great-grandson and an infant brother.
