Jennie Soodsma, 87, of Hull died Thursday, June 10, at the Sioux Center Community Nursing Home.

Services were at 10am Saturday at the Oolman Funeral Home in Hull with the Rev. Carl Klompien officiating. Burial was in Hope Cemetery, Hull.

Mrs. Soodsma was born August 18, 1911, in Lebanon, the daughter of John and Mary (De Vries) Ten Harmsel. She was raised at Hull. She married Peter Soodsma at Hull February 23, 1937. The couple farmed at Hull until 1967, when they retired into town. They became residents of Fellowship Village at Inwood in 1990. He died March 1, 1993. She transferred to the Sioux Center Nursing Home in May 1993.

She was a member of First Christian Reformed Church where she was a a member of the Ladies Aid Society. She enjoyed reading.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, James F. and Mary of Mound Valley, Kansas, and Clifford J. and Joanne of Sioux Center; two daughters, Mary A. Moss of Orange City and Rosalie J. Soodsma of Omaha; five grandchildren; two great-grandsons; and a sister and her husband. Anna and Richard Dykstra of Hull.

She was also preceded in death by an infant son and a son-in-law, Harold Moss.
