Agnes Soodsma, 90, of Hull died Wednesday, March 11, at the Sioux Center Community Health Center.

Services were Saturday, March 14, at 1:30pm at the First Christian Reformed Church in Hull with the Rev. Carl Klompien officiating. Burial was at Hope Cemetery in Hull.

Mrs. Soodsma was born December 26, 1907, in Patterson, New Jersey, the daughter of Arie and Effie (De Vries) Boersma. As a child, she came to Iowa with her family. They first settled at Boyden, later moving to Doon. She married Bartle Soodsma at Doon March 21, 1929. They farmed in the Hull area for many years. They moved into Hull 1956. He died October 25, 1972, in Sheldon. She became a resident of Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull in 1989 and transferred to the Sioux Center Community Health Center in 1991.

She was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church, where she had belonged to the Helping Hands Society.

Survivors include her three daughters. Evelyn and her husband Lawrence Leafstedt of Alcester, South Dakota, Jean De Jong of Sanborn and Arlene and her husband Roger Dykstra of Sioux Center, a sister, Matilda Weststeyn of Ripon, California; three brothers, Ted Boersma of Doon and Dick and Bill Boersma, both of Ripon; 11 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Dora Boersma; and two sons-in-law, Lewis Van Ginkel and Cornie De Jong.
