Sioiux Center News August 9, 2000

Marinus Louwerse, 85, of Sioux Center died Sunday, August 6, at Sioux Center Health Center.

Funeral services were Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center with the Rev. Robert Drenten officiating. Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Louwerse was born to Kryn and Marie (Kievit) Louwerse in Corsica, South Dakota. He married Jennie Burgers on January 21, 1938, in Sioux Center. He worked as a welder for Wandscheer Manufacturing. He also sold Raleigh products.

He was a member of Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center.

Survivors include a son, Louis and Marilyn of Cedar Rapids; a daughter Katherine and William Woelber of Boyden; six grandchildren, Mark Louwerse of Des Moines, Dan Louwerse of Cedar Rapids, Sarah and Curt Struwe of Lake City, Minnesota, Wanda and Bob Brands of Boyden, Kevin and Melissa Woelber of Sheldon and Korey Woelber of Boyden; five great-granchildren; and two brothers, Abe of Arkansas and Jim of Florida.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Peter, John and Kryn; two sisters, Sena and Johanna and one grandchild.
