Agnes Solsma, 78, of Hospers, died Sunday, Nov. 5 in Northwest Iowa Health at Sheldon of an apparent heart attack.

Services were held 1:30pm Wednesday in the First Reformed Church of Hospers with the Rev. M. Pitsenberger officiating. Burial was in Hospers Cemetery under direction of the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home of Hospers.

Mrs. Solsma, the former Agnes Roorda, was born Oct. 19, 1911 at Ypsilanti, N.D., the daughter of Dirk and Bessie (Horman) Roorda. She attended school in Ypsilanti. She married John J. Solsma, Nov. 21, 1935 at Ypsilanti. The couple moved to Sandborn where they farmed until 1941 when they moved to a farm near Hospers. He died June 20, 1977 and she moved into Hospers in 1980.

Mrs. Solsma was a member of Hospers First Reformed Church, Martha Circle and Adelphians.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Gertrude Solsma, John Jr. and Judy Solsma and Virgil and Pam Solsma, all of Hospers; a daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Bud Mouw of Tulare, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Ann Rohrbeck of Dublin, Calif., and a brother, Abe Roorda of Valley City Calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two daughters, Margene and Betty Jean; two brothers and two sisters.
