Lucille Johanna Manning, 86, of Rock Valley, died Friday, November 1 at Hegg Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness.

Services will be at 3pm Thursday at Pioneer United Methodist Church in Rock Valley with the Rev. Ron Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1pm Thursday until service time at the church.

Mrs. Manning was born June 16, 1910, in Sioux City, the daughter of Dr. Seine and Elena (Hyink) De Pree. She was the great-granddaughter of Dominee Seine Bolks, a pioneer minister of the Reformed church of America, and the granddaughter of the Rev. James De Pree, D.D. who established the First Reformed Church in West Branch (Now Sioux Center). She attended grade school in Sioux Center before moving with her family to Holland, Michigan, where she graduated from high school. She later returned with her family to Sioux Center. She was employed at the Sioux County Courthouse in Orange City.

On March 4, 1942, she married Ivan Owen Manning in Orange City. The couple lived in Rock Valley where he was the manager of Farmers Elevator Company from 1927-1978. He died November 22, 1984.

Mrs. manning was a member of Pioneer Methodist Church and the Eastern Star and the Rock Valley Senior Citizen's Center.

Survivors include one son and his wife, Thomas William and Kathy of Austin, Texas; and four grandchildren, Amy Flanagan of Alexandria, Virginia, and James, Susan and John Manning, all of Austin Texas.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Lou Flanagan; and three brothers, Dr. James, Bernard and Dr. Warren De Pree.
