John H. Warntjes, 765, of Hull, Iowa died Friday, April 24, 2009 at Sanford Sheldon Hospital in Sheldon, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:30 A.M. at the Hope Reformed Church of Hull with Rev. Verlyn Boone, officiating. Interment will follow in Hope Cemetery of Hull.

Visitation will be held Monday at the First Reformed Church of Hull from 4-8P.M. with the family present from 6-8P.M. The Warntjes Family prefers memorials to the Beecin Foundation, P.O. Box 492, Primghar, Iowa 51245-0492.

John Henry Warntjes was born December 22, 1932, the son of John and Marie (Van Maanen) Warntjes. John served two years in the U.S. Army, stationed in Fort Benning, Georgia during the Korean War.

John was united in marriage to Eleanor Jean Boeve, the daughter of Henry and Ella Boeve, on May 13, 1955 in Hull. They were blessed with a daughter and four sons. John farmed southeast of Hull, and later was employed as a rural mail carrier.

John was a member of the First Reformed Church of Hull. Over the years he served as a deacon, elder and taught Catechism.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 53 years, Eleanor of Hull; his five children and their spouses: Jerry and Lori Warntjes of Burlington, Wisconsin, Laura and Norm Thompson of Brownville, Minnesota, Daryl and La Vonne Warntjes of Hull, David and Megan Warntjes of Burlington, Wisconsin and Mike and Lisa Warntjes of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin along with his 21 grandchildren. Also surviving is John, a brother-in-law, Melvin Van Otterloo of Hull and a sister-in-law, Lois Warntjes of Littleton, Colorado; the Boeve in-laws: Darlene Boeve of Hull, Elizabeth Boeve of Rock Valley, Al and Cynthia Boeve of Luverne, Minnesota, Don and Joan Boeve of Hills, Minnesota, Art and Henrietta Boeve of Hills, Minnesota, Dorene and Arnold Hulshof of Sioux Center, Lois and Bill Oostra of Winnieconnie, Wisconsin, Helen and Tunis Overman of Rock Rapids, Jim Boeve of Beaver Creek, Minnesota, Lois and Roger Baatz of Rock Rapids, Gary Boeve of Sheldon, Ervin and Sarah Boeve of Tyler, Minnesota and numerous nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his grandson, Jonathan Warntjes; his parents; a sister, Lucille Van Otterloo; a brother, Marvin Warntjes; his father-in-law and mother-in-law; and Boeve in-laws: Henry Boeve, Case Boeve, Gert and Gilbert Leusink, Everett Boeve, Merlin Boeve and Sharon Boeve.
