Tetta Margaret De Hoogh, 97, Orange City, died Wednesday, June 13, at Orange City Hospital Long-Term Care Facility.

Services were Saturday, June 16, at First Reformed Church in Orange City, with the Rev. David Stark and the Rev. David Ter Beest officiating. Burial was at West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City under the direction of Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

Tetta De Hoogh, daughter of Henry H. and Rose (Dykstra) Buss, was born Dec. 7, 1903, in Marion S.D. She was raised in Marion and attended the Southern State Normal School in Springfield, S.D. She was a teacher in schools in Monroe and Farmer, S.D.

She married Theodore Gerard De Hoogh on May 22, 1931, in Marion. They farmed in Marion, where Tetta was a helpmate to her husband. They moved in 1969 to Orange City, where she was a cook at Heritage House for many years. Mr. De Hoogh died Nov. 9, 1987 in Orange City. She became a resident of the Orange City Hospital Long-Term Care Facility in December 1995. She developed special relationships with many of the staff members and took a personal interest in their lives. She also appreciated her roommate and caregiver, Tracy Huitink.

She was a member of First Reformed Church in Orange City and a former member of Calvary Reformed Church in Monroe. She was active in women's organizations in both churches. She and her husband were youth sponsors and teachers in the Monroe Church. She was an accomplished seamstress and an excellent cook. She enjoyed entertaining guests and their home was always open to visitors.

Survivors include a son, the Rev. Dr. Arthur and Doris De Hoogh of Orange City; a daughter, Delores and David Hanson of Rothschild, WI; five grandchildren; and a sister, Emma Wrage of Marion S.D.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore De Hoogh, two brothers and three sisters.

Memorials may be directed to Orange City Health Foundation for the Long-Term Care Facility.
