Theodore G. De Hoogh, 83, of Orange City, passed away Monday, Nov. 9 at the Orange City Municipal Hospital.

Theodore Gerard was born April 4, 1904 at Boyden, the son of Cornelius De Hoogh and Jennie Brouwer De Hoogh. On May 22, 1931 he married Tetta Margaret Buss at Marion, S.D. They farmed at Marion until 1969 when they semi-retired and moved to Orange City. He was part-time maintenance man at Vogel Paint Company and later at Heritage House Nursing Home.

Mr. De Hoogh was a member of the First Reformed Church where he had served as an elder on the consistory and as a catechism teacher. In earlier years he had been an active member of the Sandham Memorial Reformed Church of Monroe, S.D. For 25 years he was a member of Grant District 6 School Board in South Dakota.

Survivors include his wife; a son, the Rev. Dr. Arthur of Newton, Kan., a daughter, Mrs. David (Delores) Hanson of Schofield, Wis; five grandchildren, one great-grandson; a brother, Dick of Marion and two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Noordsy and Mrs. Jennie Hoekman, both of Pella.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Cornelius, Jr. and Samuel in infancy, and two sisters, Matilda and Gerarda Breed.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Nov. 12 at the First Reformed Church in Orange City with the Revs. Cecil Martens and Eugene De Hoogh officiating. Interment followed at West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City, under direction of the Van Etten-Oolman-Van Gelder Funeral Home of Orange City.
