Mrs. Anna Soodsma, age 94, of Hull, passed away on Saturday, December 10, at McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

There will be a memorial service on Wednesday, December 14, at 10:30am, at the First Christian Reformed Church in Hull. The Rev. Carl Klompien will officiate. Internment will be prior to the service at the Hope Cemetery in Hull. There will be a family prayer service on Wednesday, at 9:30am at the Oolman Funeral Home in Hull.

Visitation will be after 3:00pm on Tuesday, with the family present from 7:00pm to 8:30pm, at the funeral home.

Anna was born on July 27, 1911, on a farm near Rock Valley, the daughter of Peter and Gertie (Harmsen) Klein. The family later moved to Sioux Center, where her father was a contractor who built many homes. She attended the Christian School and began working as a hired girl at the age of 13.

On June 22, 1933 she married Henry Soodsma at Doon. They farmed north of Hull until September of 1969, when they retired into Hull. Henry passed away on May 7, 2001, in Sioux Falls, after almost 68 years of marriage.

For her entire married life, Mrs. Soodsma was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher for many years and participated in the Ladies Aid. She served her church and her family in her own quiet way and in a spirit of compassion.

The couple enjoyed traveling and fishing. For fourteen years, they wintered in Arizona.

Survivors include her two sons and their wives, Peter and Helen Soodsma, of Hull; and Robert and Sharon Soodsma of Worthing, South Dakota; six grandchildren and their spouses, Mark and Sherri Soodsma, of Doon; Brenda and Kevin Gunderson, of Sioux Falls; Dan and Jerry Soodsma, of Rock Valley; Jack and Anita Soodsma of Doon; Darren and Becky Soodsma of Sioux Falls; and Justin and Andrea Soodsma of Worthing; eighteen great-grandchildren, a great-great-granddaughter, a sister, Alice of Hills, Minnesota; and a brother, Art of Sioux Center.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a brother, Cornelius, at age 11.
