Jennie Bomgaars, 83, of Sioux Center died Thursday, February 13, at the Sioux Center Community Nursing Home.

Funeral services were held Monday, February 17, at ten-thirty A.M. at the Free Grace Reformed Church at Middleburg with the Rev. Stephen Breen officiating. Burial was at Capel Township Cemetery near Middleburg.

Jennie Frances was born June 9, 1913, at Orange City, the daughter of Frank and Nellie (Ver Steeg) Vander Zwaag. She was raised at Middleburg. She married John Bomgaars, Jr. March 19, 1936, on a farm near Middleburg where they made their home. They moved to the New Homestead in Sioux Center in November 1995. She became a resident of Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull in the summer of 1996 and transferred to the Sioux Center Nursing Home on January 13. She was a lifelong member of Free Grace Reformed Church.

Survivors include her husband; five children, Janice and her husband Kenneth McMurray of Marion, Carol and her husband Wallace Groeneweg of Sheldon, Linda Eastlick of Okoboji, David Bomgaars and his wife Colleen of Sioux Center and Paula and her husband Paul Krumm of Fort Wayne, Indiana; 15 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren, the last being born the day of her death.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ellen Roetman and Angeline Plasier, and a brother, Nicholas Vander Zwaag.
